Moir-James was also active in women's rights movements and founded the Women's Guild in Dominica. == Biography == Before entering politics, Moir-James worked with her husband in a drug-store business.〔 She became part of the Dominica Labour Party and won a seat for the Western District in the general elections in 1966.〔 In 1967, Dominica received Associated statehood from Britain, and Moir-James became the Minister of Home Affairs.〔 She served in that position from 1967 to 1970.
